Songkran

April was one of the best month!
My family (my family from germany) came down here to surprise me. And they really surprised me, it was amazing. I didn`t expected them to visit me. But they did and it was so good to see them.

From 13.04 to 15.04 we celebrated the Thai New Year all together and I have to say, it is such an amazing festival. One of my favorties by far!

Thai people have their own calender so of course they also have their own new year, called Songkran. And this festival is very unique!
People going on the streets and throwing water at everybody who passes their way. In the first days of the festival you cannot go anywhere without getting wet.
And the best thing is that everybody can join. So me and my family spend the day with a huge watersplash to wash away all bad from the last year.

I`m very happy that I had the chance to experience this absolut amazing festival with my thai family and my german family.
It couldn`t be any better!

The South

I know I`m a little bit late with my posts but at the moment I`m very busy enjoying the last days of my exchange. But I want to keep you up to date, so here we go:

At the 12.03 our last Rotary trip began after our district conference, which will be also the last one for us here in Thailand.
We started in Ayutthaya, the old capitol of Thailand, where we visited the famous buddha head in the tree roots and many old temple.

From there we went to Bangkok to fly to Phuket. In one week we traveled around the most famous islands in the south of Thailand like Phuket, Phi Phi and Koh Lipe. We spent a lot of time in and on the water with snorkeling, swimming and boat trips. It was an amazing tour with many beautiful beaches with white sand and crystal clear water.

But at the 18.03 it was time to say goodbye. I had so much fun with all the other exchange students and the time we spend together was always amazing. This time made saying goodbye very hard.
But I hope that our goodbye will not last long guys. Missing you will be the only negative thing I`ll take home from this exchange.
It is unbelievable how fast the time went by.
